About Him
I am retired.
It has its moments: walking down our bustling Main Street, going to my favourite cafe, drinking ridiculous amounts of coffee, reading the paper cover to cover. and on Mondays (or was it Tuesdays?) mowing the lawn.
But my feet are itchy. My daughter live with me - for how long, I don’t know.
But, like the proverbial scout, I am prepared!
In the past few years l have volunteered as a maths teacher in the townships of Mondesa (Swakopmund) and Katatura (Windhoek) in Namibia.
I was offered a guest lecturers position at the University of Namibia.
Then COVID 19!
The world changed for me. The world changed for everyone.
What the future holds, I don't know.
But I WILL be back, whether it be Botswana or Namibia or South Africa.
But not alone. I promised myself I wouldn’t come back alone.
So, I seek a friend; perhaps more than a friend.
One thing for sure, the highlight of my week will not be mowing the lawn.
